Chatham School District would like to announce the hire of David Langford as the incoming District Superintendent. See his Bio below.
David P. Langford’s journey in education began in the mountain town of Durango, Colorado. After earning a B.S. in K–12 Education from Montana State University–Billings and a Master’s in Educational Administration from Arizona State University, he embarked on a lifelong mission to improve education. Since 1979, David has worn many hats—teaching music, technology, and business to students of all ages, from preschoolers to postgrads, in both urban centers and remote communities.
Alaska has long been part of David’s educational path, with experience in the Lake and Peninsula School District, Klawock City Schools, and Mt. Edgecumbe High School in Sitka. He’s served as a superintendent and led improvement efforts across districts. His work as an international consultant and trainer has taken him around the globe, presenting in places like Brazil, Qatar, and Australia. David has been featured in documentaries including PBS’s Quality...Or Else and The Deming Library, and he’s written books like Tool Time for Education, Business, Healthcare, and Lean.
Now, David is thrilled to return to Southeast Alaska and begin a new chapter as Superintendent of the Chatham School District on July 1, 2025.
